Loudoun Valley competed at the Nike Cross Regionals with the top 30 teams in the southeast region where they competed to go to nationals in Portland, Oregon.
Sam Affolder, coming off his first place finish in the Virginia Cross Country State Championship race, finished second among the competition which included 293 runners. Peter Morris finished fourth, Colton Bogucki finished 14th followed by Jacob Hunter, Connor Wells, Kevin Carlson, and Kellen Hasle respectively. This was enough for the boys cross country team to secure a trip to Portland, Oregon, the Nike Cross Nationals.
Due to Jacob Windle’s injury, he was unable to run and Chase Dawson ran independently as an alternate, finished 47th and will be going to Portland with the rest of the team.
The girls cross country team finished eighth as a team, with Natalie Morris, who finished first at states, taking ninth in the Cross Regional race.
This is the first year the boys will visit nationals as a team, however Peter Morris is revisiting nationals as he qualified individually last season.
After dominating the competition at states and in the Nike Cross Regional, top ranked Loudoun Valley hopes to do the same at the Nike Cross Nationals on SAturday, December 2nd.
