Holiday Scams
During the Holiday Season, the risk of being scammed increases.
As the holiday season approaches, countless people look to online stores to help ease their long shopping lists. However, many don’t realize the threat that these commodities have on society. While the trend of staying home to shop from a computer is growing, so is the risk of being scammed.
“I love online shopping,” freshman Broch Fairchild said.
People here at Valley are big fans of the convenience that is offered by ordering gifts from apps and websites.
But while it provides one with an easier alternative for gift buying, it also provides scammers with an easy way to earn thousands. According to CNN,
There are copious ways that scammers can take your personal information and your money, but shoppers aren’t aware of this.
“Sometimes they seem a bit sketchy,” sophomore Meara Wilson said.
Over 4 million people fall victim to online scammers each year.
“I feel terrible because of the incapability to do anything,” freshman John Harvey said.
