For the second year in a row, Hungarian students will be welcomed at Valley from our sister school Ady Endre Gimnazium in Debrecen, Hungary. This program found its origins in the Fulbright Teacher Exchanges and has fed the growing relationship with our counterpart school in Hungary.
At this step in the preparations, organizer Kent Bailey is on the hunt for host families to make the students comfortable during their stay.
“I’m looking for people that are interested in developing connections with other parts of the world and maybe striking up a friendship, potentially,” Bailey said.
Any student enrolled at Valley is eligible, not only students that participate in Bailey’s many classes.
“I’ve actually had some of my former host families become really close friends,” Bailey said. “They have traveled together and have gone to each other’s weddings and things like that. So there’s been some really cool things that have come out of this.”
Any Valley students interested in hosting should contact Bailey to start the process of matching with a Hungarian student.
