Welcome back to your Midweek Movie Marathon. Today, we’ll be talking about some cozy fall comfort movies. So get your pumpkin spice lattes and let’s begin.
First up is “Fantastic Mr. Fox”. “Fantastic Mr. Fox” tells the story of a fox family, Mr. Fox is a former poultry thief who gives up his ways to become a family man, but after twelve years he is drawn back to stealing. While he embarks on his last big heist, he is caught by the farmers who are dead set on catching the fox and his friends.
This whole movie feels like a warm fall hug. Wes Anderson’s style fits perfectly with the stop motion animation and the voice acting is incredible.
It is a sweet family film but has some deeper meaning that makes it very well rounded. It is rated PG and is available on Disney+.
The next movie on my list is “Knives Out”. I have other articles out about Knives Out if you want an in depth review, but in short, “Knives Out” is a murder mystery from director Rian Johnson.
When prolific writer Harlan Thromby dies mysteriously, his entire extended family gathers to hear who will inherit the multimillion dollar will.
The cast is absolutely stacked with renowned actors such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Chris Evans and Ana De Armas.
It is a perfect movie for a blustery fall night and will keep the entire family guessing whodunit. It is PG-13 and available to rent from Prime Video.
Third on this list is “Midnight in Paris”, a romantic comedy starring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams.
On a vacation to Paris with his fianceé, Gil finds a carriage at midnight that transports him back into 1920’s Paris. As Gil spends time in the past, he becomes disillusioned with his present.
“Midnight in Paris” was written and directed by Woody Allen and it is a perfect movie for any fan of romance. It’s charming, witty and every so slightly fantastical without taking away from the realness. The actors are perfect, and when I first saw it, I thought it was going to be boring or dull, but it is anything but that. “Midnight in Paris” will keep you enthralled in the colorful world of the Roaring 20’s the entire time.
It is PG-13 and available to rent from Prime Video.
The final fall movie to cozy up to is none other than “Edward Scissorhands”.
Edward is the creation of a scientist who passes away before he has time to finish Edward, leaving him with sharp blades for hands. Edward lived alone in the house on the hill until a saleswoman came along and invited him to live with her and her family.
“Edward Scissorhands” is a quirky, comical and incredibly sweet tale from director Tim Burton. It takes Burton’s signature outlandishly fantastical style and creates an amazing story out of it. “Edward Scissorhands” is perfect for halloween, family movie night and of course a nice fall film. This film is PG-13 and also available on Disney+.
Those were some of my favorite autumn movies, check back biweekly for another Midweek Movie Marathon!
