People love their pets, that’s a pretty universal truth. However, when it comes down to it, people have varying tastes. Some people own dogs, some have birds or fish, others, like myself, choose to have cats. This is why.
While I still do really like dogs and other pet animals, I’ve always been kind of a cat person. They’re cuddly and tend to be easy to take care of, as they require less work to clean and most don’t take walks outside. They take a little bit to get used to people sometimes, and it might take some patience to make them feel safe around you, your family and your home. However, once they get settled, cats can become very affectionate to their owners.
Cats can also be very playful, although that can depend on the type of breed the cat is. I personally have Ragdolls, which are naturally more friendly. Regardless of breed, they are easy to house train and they are better with smaller spaces than other pets, showing how easy they are to care for, and it helps to make them very adaptable to change in the house, though they may not be happy with any furniture they like being moved around. They are also not super active, which means you don’t typically need to take them for walks, though activeness could also be determined by the breed or just personality of the cat.
On top of being easy going, cats are also good for people who don’t want to constantly monitor them. Cats are very independent animals and don’t need (or might not even want) constant affection, though you should still play with them from time to time throughout the day and make sure they know you care about them if you want the feeling to be mutual. A cat might let you know it likes you by purring, meowing when you’re near them, or sitting or laying down next to you.
Every pet has something going for them that makes them unique or loveable, that’s why people want to have them. But as someone who values alone time, while also wanting a fuzzy companion that they can spend time with, cats definitely top my list.
