Valley’s theatre department just wrapped up their fall play, “Peter and the Starcatcher,” so they’ve announced their new musical, “Amélie.” Based on the romantic comedy of the same name, “Amélie” follows a shy French girl from childhood on as she navigates pushing her boundaries and growing up. Throughout the musical, Amélie narrates the lives of Parisians around her.
There’s multiple audition dates depending on what role you want or if there are callbacks. Regular auditions are after school in the Black Box next Tuesday. You will need to prepare a one minute monologue and one minute of a song. If auditions go well, callbacks will be the next day at the same place and time. The dance callback will be on Thursday, same place and time.
If you’re interested in being part of the tech crew, there will be interest meetings held in the Black Box during Viking Time on Monday and Tuesday.
“Sing a song you’re very comfortable with,” sophomore Emma Tulowitzky said. “Sing a song that you know, even if it’s from an old Disney movie you liked. Something that shows off your vocal range well. Choose a monologue that reflects what type of character you want to be like. Pick a funny one if you want to be a funny character, and then pick a sad one if you want to be a sad character.”
