The hot take of the week? Trident is the best gum.
As someone who chews gum all day every day, trust me when I say Trident’s gum is simply superior. I’ve tried so many brands from Extra, Juicy Fruit, Orbit, Ice cubes, Mentos and even Hubba Bubba, but time and time again I end up back at Trident.
Trident’s flavor has lasted the longest out of all the brands I’ve tried, but that’s not the only reason it remains on the top of my list. As someone who can’t ever sit completely still, whether I’m talking, tapping my foot or spinning my pencil around, chewing gum has always helped me stay focused in class.
It’s less about the actual flavor of the gum, although they do make 12 different flavors, and more about its durability. I know that sounds weird, but I’ll put a piece of gum and still be chewing it hours later, hardly even noticing it. Orbit and Juicy Fruit’s gum in particular tend to feel like they are disintegrating by the end of class.
Another thing that makes Trident better than the rest is packaging. Each of the flavors has a super distinct color so there isn’t any way of mixing up your flavors. Mentos and Ice Cubes gum rattles in your backpack and drives me absolutely crazy, while I can never get the right sized piece from Hubba Bubba’s tape dispenser-ish packaging. Trident also has two tiered layers of sticks, where Extra has them stacked, making it inconvenient to grab just one.
Speaking of convenience, Trident sells gum in bulk at Costco making it super cost efficient. It almost ensures you’ll never run out, which if you’re like me, is crucial.
