New year, new books. New and old favorite authors have a fresh 365 days ahead of them to release their newest works, and we’re all sitting here waiting for them. New releases never fail to excite me, the anticipation and build up are almost as enjoyable as the story. Most releases happen on a Tuesday, and what a great way to celebrate the most boring day of the week.
2025 has a great lineup of exciting debuts and triumphant returns, so let’s just go right into it.
Accidentally Amy by Lynn Painter – Jan. 14
Lynn Painter is the author responsible for the beloved Liz and Wes from “Better Than the Movies.” But instead of a sweet YA romance, this is her adult romance debut! I’m expecting great things from her talent for tension and banter.
Wings of Starlight by Allison Saft – Feb. 4
If you remember Pixie Hollow from the Tinkerbelle movies, this may be the book for you. I loved Tinkerbelle when I was little, so when I saw that this story is a fairy’s story from Tink’s story, I was hooked. Although this is not Saft’s debut book, I have never heard of her and am very willing to give her a try.
Deep End by Ali Hazelwood – Feb. 4
Ali Hazelwood is a household name on BookTok, so if you haven’t heard of her, you gotta keep up. She’s a bestselling romance author famous for her addicting stories and swoon worthy lines. Her backlist is definitely worth checking out, so I have high hopes for this one.
First-Time Caller – B.K. Borison – Feb. 11
This author wrote one of my all time favorite books, “Lovelight Farms,” but I haven’t read any of her other books (don’t worry, I’m working to get that fixed). If Lovelight taught me anything about Borison, it’s that I click so well with her writing style that this is one of my most anticipated books of the year.
Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins – Mar. 18
Yes, that Suzanne Collins. And that means the Hunger Games is back, baby. This story follows Haymitch, Katniss’s mentor and former competitor in the second Quarter Quell (the games but with twice the number of competitors). As highly anticipated as it is, there is already a release timeline set for the movie.
I can’t wait for this, it better be good.
Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry – Apr. 22
Emily Henry, but with a literary fiction twist. You can’t escape her name. Her books are universally loved by the book community, so their expectations on this book are so high. She’s so good, most of her books are in the works for a movie adaptation. This will be a must-read for most of BookTok.
There it is, some of the most anticipated reads of the year. Hopefully, you’ll find some you love and pre-order them (pre-orders are so important in the publishing industry). Happy Reading!
