On Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 6-7 p.m. rising ninth grade students and parents from Blue Ridge Middle School will be here looking at all of the different courses Loudoun Valley has to offer.
Students and parents will start in the auditorium for a quick introduction of the event along with information about Valley, then they are set loose to explore the electives available for them.
Wendy Walker, Activities Coordinator, said this event is very flexible for the students and that various teachers will have different demonstrations of their courses.
“Teachers will tell students and parents about the electives that they offer specifically to ninth grade,” Walker said. “It’s very unstructured, and it’s just kind of an event to come in and get more information.”
Because of the recent snow days, students at Blue Ridge have already started the scheduling process.
Counselor Adria Frie, said students have until May 30 to make final changes to their schedules but encourages students to reach out to their counselors in advance to ensure they get into the elective of their choice.
“My recommendation is to always not to wait till the last minute because sometimes, based on numbers, we might not have a class run, or we might only have two sections and close it out,” Frie said. “If students earlier on, make those adjustments to what they really want, then maybe the class will run or then maybe they’ll be an additional block.”
