With his first major award win, Timothée Chalamet made history when he became the youngest actor to win Best Actor at the Screen Actor Guild Awards.
The SAG awards were held on Feb. 23, with “A Complete Unknown” securing 4 nominations. Best Actor was the only one to win.
After losing Best Male Actor to Adrien Brody in “The Brutalist” during the 2025 Golden Globes, Chalamet not only overtook him for the SAG award, but also as the youngest actor to win SAG Awards Best Actor.
When he won, Chalamet went up and gave a raw and honest speech that immediately began to turn heads.
He began his speech by thanking his mother, who he brought to the show. Chalamet continued by explaining how much he put into playing “this incomparable artist, Mr. Bob Dylan.”
“I can’t downplay the significance of this award because it means the most to me,” Chalamet said.
The most controversial part of his speech came when he layed out how he plans to pursue greatness.
“I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is I’m really in pursuit of greatness,” Chalamet said. “I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps. And I want to be up there.”
He ended his speech by expressing his gratitude and how with this, he’s one step closer to greatness.
“This doesn’t signify that, but it’s a little more fuel. It’s a little more ammo to keep going. Thank you so much.”
