Librarians are having a “Read Across America Road Trip” where they feature 50 different books, one from each state, and encourage students to check them out.
Librarian, Jef Mueller says this is a fun and engaging way for students to celebrate this month by participating in this challenge.
“We’ve got a map on the wall, behind the circulation desk, that when a student checks out and reads the book for that particular state we then cross it off,” Mueller said.
Read Across America is celebrated all throughout the month of March. It was started in 1998 by the National Education Association and is the nation’s largest celebration of reading.
“It usually coincides with the younger ages, with Dr Seuss’s birthday, but it’s something during March where we promote reading throughout our student population,” Mueller said.
