Welcome back to Lilly’s Hot Takes! If you haven’t been here before, my name is Lilly, and I love sharing my controversial opinions. Let’s jump in.
The hot take of the week? Cold pizza is better than hot pizza.
I love cold pizza. There is nothing better than a slice of pizza straight from the fridge. The texture, flavors, structure, everything about cold pizza is better.
First of all, it is so much easier to eat cold pizza than hot pizza. When the pizza is cold, the cheese isn’t stringy, the sauce isn’t so hot you’re burning your face, and the crust isn’t flopping in your hands. It is hands down a better, more enjoyable experience.
And, every time I’ve eaten cold pizza, the flavors have always tasted stronger. I don’t know what it is, but every part of the pizza from the crust to the toppings just tastes so much better.
The fact that the pizza isn’t flopping over and burning your hand just makes the whole pizza eating experience that much more perfect. Don’t get me wrong, I eat pizza when it’s hot, but there is nothing more frustrating than when it’s so hot that the cheese falls off or the sauce drips and makes a mess. Eating it cold the next day is just so convenient.
Plus, reheating pizza is a nightmare. I have never been able to heat a piece of pizza to the perfect temperature like when it’s fresh. Toaster oven? The bottom gets too crunchy and the top is lukewarm. Oven? The top is burning, while the bottom doesn’t look like it’s heated at all. Microwave? Please tell me you don’t do this. Microwaving pizza is a fast pass to soggy, greasy, floppy pizza. Just an overall nightmare. But eating it cold? That’s perfect. No floppy pizza, emphasized flavors, super convenient and easy. I really can’t find a con.
Now, I do want to recognize that I eat almost any leftover cold, with the exception of soup or anything similar. But, I think that alone has enough controversy to fill another hot take.
So, before you decide that eating cold pizza is weird, gross or whatever other uninformed opinion you may decide to settle on, try it. I pinky promise you won’t regret it.
