On Apr. 23, 35 schools and over 800 students and partners will be joining Valley on the stadium field for the third annual Feet Meet.
This is an event hosted by Loudoun Valley, where athletes from many schools across the county come to have fun, participate in track games and meet new people.
Andrew Johnson, assistant principal and coordinator for this event said the Feet Meet is a great chance for students with intellectual disabilities to come together with students who don’t and spend time with one another.
He explained that all over the world, no matter where you’re from, sports is something everyone has in common.
“It’s a pretty universal language that we all speak,” Johnson said. “It’s an opportunity to find commonalities and share passions that we all have, and most importantly, have fun.”
After the success of last year’s Feet Meet, more and more schools saw what Valley was doing and became eager to partake in the next year’s.
“In comparison to last year, we had nine schools and around 300 students and partners,” Johnson said. “This year, that number has more than tripled, as there are now 35 schools and over 800 students and partners.”
Come join all 800 of us tomorrow on the stadium field from 10 a.m to noon.
