With the end of school on the horizon, you’ll want a list of upcoming TV shows to fill your unscheduled summer days. And lucky for you, summer 2025 seems to be particularly packed with high-profile releases.
With everything from a new season of “Squid Game” to a “We Were Liars” book adaptation, let’s take a look at a list of to-be-released TV shows to binge after graduation from earliest to latest releases.
Spoiler alert — skip past the descriptions of shows you haven’t seen yet. They will detail where the show left off and possibilities of the new season.
Ginny and Georgia (Season 3) – June 5 on Netflix

“Ginny and Georgia” is a crime/comedy centering on a mother-daughter duo. The mother, Georgia, struggles to maintain a stable life due to a haunting past — explored in flashbacks — and continuing life of crime. The daughter, Ginny, struggles to navigate a teenage life in the wake of her eccentric but complex mother, struggling with mental health and self-harm.
“I like how there’s flashbacks of Georgia’s life,” sophomore Olivia Cypcar said. “It explains where she gets her life experience from.”
Season 2 left off on a huge cliffhanger where Georgia’s wedding to Mayor Paul is interrupted by a surprise arrest for the murder of Tom Fuller, the husband of neighbor Cynthia Fuller. The season also left off with Ginny splitting from her boyfriend Marcus. Season 3 will explore the aftermath of the arrest and what develops with Ginny and Marcus’ complicated relationship.
“I want to see if she [Georgia] will be able to get out free or if she’s going to end up in jail for murder,” Cypcar said.
We Were Liars (Season 1) – June 18 on Prime Video

“We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart is finally getting a screen adaptation, more than a decade after its release. This mystery/thriller story follows the affluent and full-of-secrets Sinclair family who own their own island in Massachusetts.
The story follows main character Candace (Emily Alyn Lind) who suffers from migraines and memory loss, watching her family’s dark past. Additionally, we will see Candace’s relationship with cousins Johnny, Mirren, Will and unrelated love interest, Gat.
The show is set to stay pretty true to the book, while adding some nuance to the adult characters. However, Prime hasn’t announced that this is a limited series, and showrunners said they will be sure to set the stage for a possible Season 2.
The Bear (Season 4) – June 26 on Hulu
“The Bear,” a dramedy, follows the story of fine-dining chef Carmy who must return to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop after his brother committed suicide. The show explores tough workplace and family relationships, along with Carmy’s dealing with his brother’s death.

“The Bear” is known for its long takes and intense, often stressful, scenes. The high-pressure situations are simultaneously overwhelming and engrossing for fans.
“Its mix of heavy emotions and comedy is something seldom found in TV today,” sophomore Dru Donohue said.
Season 3 leaves off with Sydney, Carmy’s partner in the kitchen, grappling with choosing whether to stay with Carmy, who has turned into a toxic leader, at the Bear or switch to working with a rival kitchen. Viewers wonder if Carmy will be able to overcome his struggles to be a better partner with Sydney, encouraging her to stay in the kitchen. And most importantly, the restaurant may be sold or closed because it isn’t profitable enough
Squid Game (Season 3) – June 27 on Netflix
“Squid Game” is a Korean dystopian thriller. It centers around 456 desperate civilians competing in a seemingly harmless competition where they participate in childrens’ games like Tug of War to receive a huge cash prize of 45.6 billion Won. However, the players find the twist is that if they lose one of the games, they’re killed by a group of pink masked guards, raising the stakes from a cash prize to their life.
“It is incredibly well executed,” senior Sophia Serice said. “I enjoy the show because it isn’t a linear story and has many mysteries surrounding it.”

After main character Gi-Hun won the games in the first season, Season 2 follows him reentering the games in order to unmask the Frontman, the leader of the games, and end the games once and for all. However, Gi-Hun didn’t know that the Frontman went into the games disguised as Player 001, even developing a friendship with Gi-Hun. Season 2 ended in a shootout between the guards and the players, where 001 faked his death to return as the Frontman and kill Gi-Hun’s close friend Park Jung-Bae, the final scene of the season.
While we may not have as much information on what is to come in the next season as the other shows on this list, the teaser trailer showed the guards unveiling a traumatized Gi-Hun trapped in a coffin in the players’ dorm. It also hints at an upcoming game, where it’s looking like one of the mother-son duo Yong-Sik and Geum-ja will die.
“I am really excited to see how they continue, or not continue, the games after the attempted coup,” Serice said. “And if the Frontman will continue to be evil or have a change of heart.”
The Summer I Turned Pretty (Season 3) – July 16
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is a romance show based on the trilogy of the same name by author Jenny Han. The third and final season will follow the last book of the trilogy, “We’ll Always Have Summer.”
The show follows a love triangle of main character Isabella (Belly) and brothers Conrad and Jeremiah. In a magical summer just after turning 16, Belly dives into newfound romance and teenage complications. She’s constantly swinging back-and-forth between choosing Conrad or Jeremiah, amplified by the show not exactly following the events of the books.

“I like how complex the relationships are, and how much they are just so invested in each other,” sophomore Emily Van said.
Belly ended off Season 2 choosing Jeremiah, and Season 3 will reveal her final choice in brothers. However, Jenny Han has warned that the ending may be unexpected and diverge a bit from the book, so be warned. If the final season follows the general premise of the third book, Belly and Jeremiah plan to get married while Conrad’s presence threatens to sway Belly’s choice.
“I hope that Belly does not get any of the boys,” Van said with distaste for the main character. “And she just ends up alone and everyone else is happy without her.”
I hope this list provides you with lots of hours of new summer TV shows to fill your free time off of school. Happy watching.
