The leaves are changing colors and as fall grows closer, various places are preparing for seasonal activities.
One popular place to enjoy autumn in Loudoun County is Great Country Farms. Located in Bluemont VA, Great Country Farms also has a Farm Winery, Vineyard and Dirt Farm Brewing.
Many people visit Great Country Farms for fruit harvesting. In fall, they offer apple picking August through September and pumpkin picking September through October.
“I always enjoy the experience,” junior Brianna Skinner said. “Instead of going to a grocery store, you get to pick out your own pumpkin to carve.”
Other fall activities include a corn maze and pig races (available through Sept. 18), Family Flashlight Nights on Sept. 20 and 27, an adult corn maze every Friday and Saturday through October and last but not least, Pumpkin Chunkin during the first four days of November.
Family Flashlight Nights allow guests to explore the corn maze and then gather around a bonfire to roast marshmallows. For Pumpkin Chunkin in November, there are three different areas where visitors can smash jack-o-lanterns and continue the fun, even after Halloween.
Great Country Farms is a popular place to participate in seasonal activities with friends and family.
“I go to Great Country Farms with my family every year, so it’s become a tradition,” junior Peyton Hill said.
