Early voting for the Virginia General Election, to be held Nov. 4, opened for those eligible to vote. Citizens who turn 18 before or on Nov. 4 may vote early, even if they are 17 on the day they actually cast their ballot.
“There’s no point in not doing it, and it’s good to start the habit of voting,” senior and eligible voter Ella McCrory said.
The voter registration deadline is Oct. 24, which can be completed through Virginia’s elections site. By providing a driver’s license/ID card, a Social Security number and birthdate, it only takes a few minutes to register for the election.
The early voting period spans from Sept. 19 to Nov. 1. To check how to early-vote in person, voters can contact their local registrar’s office for more information. For Loudoun County, the registrar is Judith Brown, who can be reached at [email protected] or 703-777-0380. All voter registration offices will be open for early voting on Oct. 25.
For voters who prefer to vote from home, there’s an option to apply for a ballot to be mailed to voters’ houses by 5 p.m., Oct. 24. To register for this, voters must also process it through their local registrar’s office.
For Virginia’s 2025 General Election, candidates are Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Virginia House of Delegates and Local Offices. Local Office elections for Loudoun County include school board members, including Valley’s Dulles District spots and mayors and town council members for Round Hill and Middleburg. The entire candidate list for all appropriate elections can be viewed here.
“It’s important to vote because as a citizen it’s your job to advocate for your country and to ensure a good future for your country,” McCrory said.
