Since its release, “Anyone But You,” starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell has wowed viewers and sparked social media excitement.

Students share their opinions about the movie and most have given positive reviews.

Sophomore Sienna Dhillon rated the movie 10/10.

“The best movie of 2024, it honestly made me so happy,” Dhillon said.

Social media played a huge factor in promoting and publicizing this movie. TikTok was a key factor in giving “Anyone But You” the attention it needed for people to purchase tickets.

Sophomore Brody Heltzel referenced the TikTok hype and how it made him more excited to see the movie.

“I had seen posts all over social media and TikTok regarding this movie, at first I thought it was going to be over-hyped, but it ended up surpassing my expectations,” Heltzel said.

On the other hand, Freshman Ava Cassella thought the TikTok hype was misleading.

I went into this movie thinking it would be the best movie I would ever see, but turns out it was just like any other rom-com,” Cassella said.

Students felt that the chemistry in this film is like no other and separated “Anyone But You” from other rom-coms.

“I think that both actors were amazing and had really good chemistry. They both played a really happy role in the movie,” sophomore Kylie McCullough said.

A main focal point from the movie was the song “Unwritten.”

The song was released in 2004 by Natasha Bedingfield. Because of its use in “Anyone But You,” it has gained popularity on many streaming platforms.

“I like the song ‘Unwritten,’ it really brought up the mood and made the scene more enjoyable to watch,” Heltzel said.

Dhillon thought that a new rom-com was exactly what was needed.

“This could be like our new Notebookof the generation,” she said.
