Before the new league year began for the NFL there were already some crazy unexpected moves. Going back to the beginning of March when wide receiver Deebo Samuel got traded from the 49ers to the Commanders for only a 5th round draft pick. This trade now creates one of the best Wide receiver duos in the league between Deebo Samuel and Terry Mclaurin, while Samuel didn’t have a huge 2024 season injuries derailed his season since he only had 670 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, Washington sees the potential of Samuel with Terry lined up to him side by side and they think this could be the best wide receiver duo in the league.
Another crazy free agency move happened when the Seattle Seahawks went out and got Sam Darnold on a 3 year 100.5 million dollar deal. Considering this Sam Darnold contract is an all right deal for the Seahawks due to all the money the Seahawks gave him for a quarterback who hasn’t won a playoff game. However, this could still work out for Seattle if Sam Darnold plays like the 2024 regular season Sam Darnold the Seahawks were looking for.
An AFC east team found themselves a franchise quarterback within free agency. The New York Jets have been in need of a stellar quarterback for many years. Ever since the injury of Aaron Rodgers in the 2023 season opener he hasn’t been the same. Making the Jets go into free agency signing former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields on a 2 year 40 million dollar contact. Fields only started 6 games for the Steelers but showed tremendous potential starting at quarterback with bursts of athleticism truly making him exciting. This deal will be interesting of how this will work out for the Jets.
