It is officially the season of love.. Whether you’re single or taken, here are five books to read this Valentine’s Day.
My first book recommendation is “Betting on You” by Lynn Painter. This book automatically draws you in from page one. It’s about a bet made between two characters about how long different relationships will last. During these bets, they try to figure out their own relationship. Overall, the character dynamic is so cute. This is the best romance book that I have ever read. It’s an enemies to lovers without all the exaggerated drama. It’s super comforting, sweet and lighthearted.
“If He Had Been With Me” by Lauren Roberts left me speechless. It’s a friends to lovers book, a super sad read and will leave you crying and a super devastating love story. It’s about two characters: Finny and Autumn. They used to be inseparable, but as time went by, they slowly drifted apart. You follow different perspectives along the book to figure out “what if Finny never died?” It revolves around bad timing, missed chances and what if’s. It has a really nostalgic vibe that comes along with it and if I could recommend one book for everyone in the world to read, just once, it would be this book.
“Beach Read” by Emily Henry is a lighthearted rom-com. This is a super funny book and is a really cute and easy read. It has a really nice vibe to it and has the right amount of emotion and chemistry between the characters. I recommend this book to anyone who wants something cute and funny. It’s about two authors who meet on vacation. Gus writes literary fiction while January writes romance books. They have a bet on whether or not the other can write in the opposite genre.
“Love and Other Words” by Christina Lauren captures the perfect amount of emotion. It alternates between the characters’ present and past lives, showing how things changed over time. It’s about two characters, Macy and Elliot. It uncovers a traumatic childhood that Macy goes through and we see 11 years of silence and zero communication between the two characters. Until they finally meet again.
“Caraval” by Stephanie Garber is a fantasy enemies to lovers book. It’s about a bond between sisters. The main character’s sister goes missing at a carnival and the main character tries to find her sister with her enemy. They try to find her sister with the carnival’s warning in mind: remember not to get caught up in the magic, because it’s all just a game. It has all the perfect plot twists and keeps you reading. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy.
