Brief Concern: New Nicotine Law in Progress

Lawmakers in Virginia voted to pass a bill that increases the age of buying nicotine products from the age of 18 to 21. Virginia isn’t the only state to pass this bill California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Oregon, Hawaii and Maine have increased the age to 21 as well. These states implemented this law since 95 percent of adult smokers have started smoking before the age of 21, and they want to combat this. They are also implementing this bill to get nicotine out of High Schools, since the upperclassmen won’t be capable of purchasing it anymore.
