From AP classes, extracurricular activities and college applications, a lot of seniors at Valley are feeling the stress and workload of their final year in high school. Their school year quickly got packed and stressful.
“I think the biggest challenge is time management,” senior Morgan Presgraves said. “There is always too much going on. College applications are time consuming, and balancing it with your classes and out of school activities are important.”
Some students wish teachers would support them in different ways in this stressful time.
“I think teachers sometimes forget that we don’t have that much time for classwork with everything else going on,” senior Maia Valenti said. “It would help if schools gave seniors a lighter workload. At least until we’re done applying.”
Though seniors didn’t know what to expect, they wanted to offer advice to incoming seniors.
“Start early,” senior Wyatt Lechliter said. “Don’t wait until the last second to think about colleges or scholarships. Take time to make a list of colleges that you want to apply to. And if you have free time, apply to a couple of scholarships.”
Though they have a heavy workload, it definitely is becoming the most valuable and memorable year for most of them.
“It’s overwhelming but memorable,” senior Solomon Barnieh said. “Honestly, it’s our last year of high school. I’m trying to make the most of it.”
Senior year is definitely demanding and requires a lot of effort. But it’s also a fun and memorable experience. Learning how to manage your time and responsibilities is crucial this year.
