Sarah Kelly, Editor & Teaching Assistant
Hi! My name is Sarah Kelly, and I am a junior at Loudoun Valley. This is my first year on staff and as an editor. I love writing and am excited to dive deeper into the world of journalism this year. I am most excited to focus on writing feature stories, however I also would like to find myself behind a camera or writing in other forms. Though I only started last year, being a part of Valley’s journalism program has granted me many opportunities to grow as a person and writer, and I can’t wait for what this year will bring.
As well as being a part of The Viking’s staff, I am also a secretary for Valley’s music honors society (Tri-M) and a leader in Project Lit. This is my sixth year playing clarinet, and I love being able to bring together Valley’s various music programs through Tri-M. Outside of school hours, I spend most of my time doing color guard. This is my fourth year as a member of our school’s marching band, and last year I was able to help reestablish our first winterguard team in over 10 years here at Valley.
When I’m not spinning a flag, I can be found reading, embroidering, or out in nature with my family and our three dogs. I love to take moments to reflect on our world, and I am really looking forward to exploring moments and stories that some might not notice through my writing for The Viking.
